Summary of Features of the Zipcar program:
1. UF's (PPD's) Cost:
- $800 per month per car or light truck
- $875 per month per minivan
- total $6,550 per month
- excess of $1,600 per month for cars and light truck and $1,750 for minivan received from rental will be returned to UF
- Zipcar pays insurance, fuel, and maintenance.
2. Vehicles
- 4 small cars, 1 Honda Element SUV, 1 light truck, 2 minivans
3. Maintenance
- coordinated by PPD, paid by Zipcar at the following rates:
cleaning $15
oil and filter change $25
4. Membership and application fees:
- both waived for UF departmental accounts
- both waived the first year only for UF drivers and departmental accounts also wanting a personal account. $40 annual membership will apply after the first year.
- students and private citizens will be charged one-time application fee of $35 and annual membership fee of $40. During first 6 months, each approved personal member will be offered a $40 driving credit valid for 60 days.
5. Rental rate
- $7.00/hr for all vehicles including fuel. To be reviewed periodically between UF and Zipcar to determine if it should be raised or if marketing should be increased.
6. Term of UF's agreement with Zipcar
- 2 years with 3 additional one-year renewals based on satisfactory approval.
7. Insurance:
- $500 deductible waived for departmental accounts
8. Fees:
- Fees will be charged for cancellation, late return, etc. See Credits and Fees at Zipcar.com
9. Credits:
- Drivers will receive credit if refuel or clean the car. See Zipcar website.
