Operations Engineering

Welcome to the Operations Engineering Department of the Physical Plant Division at the University of Florida.

Our primary goal is to provide quality engineering services, low cost estimating services, and Urban Forestry support services to the University of Florida community and other departments within our organization such as Systems, Facilities and Grounds in supporting education and research.

We have a staff of 16 qualified and dedicated architects, engineers, engineering technicians, and an urban forester.

The Operations Engineering Department provides the following services:

  • Engineering and design.
  • Estimating and project management for small projects up to $50,000.00.
  • Review and inspect all construction projects on campus including new construction and renovation.
  • Update campus utilities plans including water, wastewater, chilled water, steam, electric, reclaimed water and irrigation.
  • Energy management services through performance contract and Metasys System.
  • Maintain records of all utilities' monthly consumption and utilities meters.
  • Monthly reading of all utilities' meters on campus for billing.
  • Urban Forestry services.
  • Maintain and update the preventive maintenance (PM) for all equipment on campus and generate PM work orders for other departments in our organization on a weekly basis.
  • Administration of Dig Permit application and utilities line location.
  • Manage the asbestos contract.
  • Manage the carpet replacement contract.
