Grounds Maintenance

Grounds Maintenance

With nearly 1,000 cultivated acres on the main campus plus outlying facilities including Lake Wauburg, TREEO, Biotech in Alachua and Whitney Lab in Marineland the Grounds Department is continuously on the go. Mowing, edging, weed-eating, fertilizing, pulling weeds, and litter collection are all elements of our Grounds Maintenance program.

Mild winters and tropical summers contribute to year-round interest in intramural sports. With over 33 acres of playing fields in nine locations, special attention is paid to the maintenance of the sports turf. With accelerated mowing and fertilization schedules coupled with regular aeration and top-dressing, every effort is made to provide high quality playing surfaces for student activities.

We endeavor to schedule our work around campus activities and readily respond to special requests for our services including supplying litter receptacles for special functions.

Requests for services should be directed to the Work Management Center at (352) 392-1121 or by clicking on the Work Order link above.
