In 2005, PPD was awarded two Davis Awards:
- The Working Capital Construction Auxiliary Team, Jim Brillhart, John Bohannan, Danny Moore, and Mark Ferguson, revitalized the small minor construction program at the Health Science Center. Their work performing 295 construction projects saved approximately $33,000 over outside contracting.
- Jon Priest, Motor Pool Manager, received a Certificate of Commendation for his suggestion to extend the service intervals for University vehicles from every six months or 3000 miles to every 12 months or 6000 miles. Adoption of this suggestion to change the service interval decreased the number of visits each vehicle requires annually, frees time for technicians to perform more urgent repairs, shortens vehicle out-of-service time, and significantly reduces the environmental burden by decreasing the fleet vehicle lubrication demands by 50% each year. The estimated annual cost savings associated with Mr. Priest's suggestion is $80,724.
