CUSTODIAL SERVICES
The Building Services Department provides daily custodial and labor services to more than 8
million square feet of area to campus buildings and the Health Science Center. Building Services
also employs an auxiliary work force that performs custodial and labor services to 1 million square
feet of area for reimbursement for non-E&G customers.
DAILY TASKS
- FLOORS: Sweep, dust mop, and spot mop all spills
- CARPET: Vacuum traffic areas & spot clean carpet Vacuum completely (Tuesday)
- WASTE: Pick up interior litter & trash
Wastebaskets and office recycle boxes are emptied Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays except for common areas which are emptied daily)
Wash waste cans as needed - RESTROOMS: Clean & disinfect sanitary fixtures
Damp mop floor
Restock paper products & restroom supplies - STAIRWELL: Sweep, dust mop, & spot mop all spills
- OTHER: Spot clean fixtures, sills, furnishings & kitchen surfaces
Disinfect water coolers
Spot clean all entrance & inside glass surfaces
Wipe down doors & walls; clean baseboards & dry boards (as time allows/as required)
BI-WEEKLY TASKS
- FLOORS: Damp mop & spray buff
- TELEPHONES: Damp clean
ANNUAL TASKS
- FLOORS: Clean and/or strip and wash all resilient floors
- CARPET: Shampoo carpet
- BUILDING PRESSURE WASH: Wash windows & screens, inside and out
- OTHER: Dust or damp clean vents (as needed)
