David S. O'Brien is an Assistant Vice President in Business Affairs and has been with the Physical Plant Division at the University of Florida since 1995. During that time, UF has embarked on a "Journey to Excellence" to achieve continuous improvement, using Total Quality Management philosophy, principles and practices. Our primary objective is customer satisfaction in all we do.

Physical Plant is responsible for the operation and maintenance of more than 6 million square feet in over 300 Educational and General Buildings (E&G) and over 3 million square feet at the University's Health Science Center. PPD provides utility services and grounds care campus wide. Physical Plant Division is organized into specialized departments and employs 1,000+ people with a wide range of skills. In addition to the E&G facilities, PPD also operates an auxiliary enterprise to provide custodial services and maintenance and repair services to non-E&G facilities.


Eric Cochran, Associate DirectorEric Cochran is an Associate Director of Physical Plant and is responsible for the management of PPD's Facilities, Grounds, and Systems Departments as well as an Operations Engineering function and the University's Motor Pool.


Jeffrey G. Chorlog, Associate DirectorJeffrey G. Chorlog is Associate Director of Physical Plant and oversees the Resource Management functions of PPD. The Resource Management Group was formed to prudently manage the resources of money, materials, information, and people. The departments reporting to Mr. Chorlog are Business Operations, Central Stores, Information and Technology Services, Work Management, and the Budget Office.


Harold Barrand, Associate Director Harold Barrand is Associate Director of Physical Plant and is responsible for the management of the Architecture & Engineering Department.
